Media literacy is critically examining and assessing the message conveyed through broadcasting. It is essential to have media literacy so as not to get confused by the data from the media. Individuals can get mixed up with the press and misinterpret the news (Trilling & Fadel, 2009, p. 53). The public must have the media literacy to protect the interpretation of essential facts intended for the community. Understanding what is coming from the media makes it a functional sector that contributes positively to society (Smith, 2021). It is necessary to acquire media literacy to comprehend the real social issues represented in the media.

Media literacy is dismissed because individuals think analyzing the information conveyed through the media is unimportant. Most people trust the media and believe that every news and data coming from it is factual (Smith, 2021). Sometimes media entities make mistakes, and the ability to scrutinize and fact-check the report can benefit an individual. A PLN that values media literacy is essential because members can discuss factual and verifiable information, thus minimizing misleading news (Trilling & Fadel, 2009, p. 76). Because PLN greatly influences individuals, members should know about data from the media to educate and inform each other appropriately.

Media literacy is necessary to understand the real societal issues reported in the media. It is vital to target factual agreement in a PLN to avoid misguiding members. Embracing verifiable information is essential in educating PLN members in educational terms. Since education needs facts, members of PLN should only focus on information that can develop the knowledge of others. Fact-checking techniques can positively affect members’ knowledge capacity and boost their education levels. Media literacy must be adopted in all learning groups to embrace how individuals learn completely.
