Balancing PLN & Public Discourse

For well-known people, social media is crucial since it facilitates communication with their community. Notable people communicate with their audiences on social media by sharing videos, pictures, and writings. Social media helps famous people instantly communicate with a large population and get immediate feedback (Hirst, 2018, p. 78). Prominent individuals can assess their impact on society by having a good PLN. Influential people in the community may benefit from selling their goods through their PLN and gain advantages that will expand their influence. Influential people use social media to inform their followers about their activities and build their community. An online presence is a crucial tool for assisting prominent people in maintaining their influence while building a community that benefits from their actions in life.

Creating an online community with the employers’ apparatuses can limit the employee. The employee gets restricted to only talking about the activities of the organization. Engaging the online community on other issues is challenging since they want to be involved in discussions on topics that may influence their relationship with the company (Hirst, 2018, p. 78). The company’s online community can benefit the employee by helping to create selling and marketing skills. Having people in a PLN that understand their roles and are serious about delivering correct information is crucial in maintaining a reliable online social media presence.

Online presence by individuals through PLN creation is crucial in building a community that can be relied upon effectively. It is also vital to minimize misinformation by having fact-checkers in an individual’s PLN to verify the information given to people. PLNs are essential aspects of social media because they group people according to their preferences. PLNs increase the knowledge of individuals in different subjects; hence it is crucial to share correct information in the networks to foster a knowledgeable community.

Social media platforms must be diverse and inclusive, particularly in forming PLNs. Diversity and inclusivity help people understand people’s perspectives in a PLN. It is simpler to grasp each person’s viewpoints when people from various backgrounds are gathered in a PLN. People from many distinct groups impact the community since everyone’s interests are represented (Clark & Aufderheide, 2011, p. 55). Social media’s capacity to facilitate communication makes creating diverse PLNs in terms of people’s backgrounds, genres, and opinions simpler. Social media has changed the management of traditional media in engagement (Clark & Aufderheide, 2011, p. 56). To improve communication that influences society, social media and conventional media must work together on inclusiveness.

The change in traditional media must include the public to increase diversity and value opposing viewpoints. The inclusion of the public can be implemented through social media (Clark & Aufderheide, 2011, p. 55). Social media allows users to create PLNs that become forums for discussing essential matters that affect the community. Including diversity in PLNs makes a community’s opinions relevant, leading to an impactful society. Social media puts traditional forms of communication to the test by forcing users to communicate directly with one another without the need for a third party to filter or influence the content.

It is simple to include the perspectives of persons in traditional media by promoting diversity and inclusiveness in PLNs on social media platforms. People’s opinions are important, and everyone’s view gets considered during discussions in my PLN. Employers anticipate that PLNs will help manage workplace operations to support executive, customer, and employer involvement. Forming social media groups as PLNs is vital for influencers to promote their agenda because they can reach a wider group of people. Commentators can engage with their audience by creating PLNs on social media platforms. As everyone’s perspective is given in PLNs, it is crucial to consider diversity and inclusion to impact the community.

PLN in Practice

Establishing status and trust in a related culture can have difficulties, especially when individuals want others to help them solve specific problems. Individuals who help solve problems should have characteristics aligned with the objective (Woods, 2021). The entities selected should get ready to offer their knowledge concerning the subject without any issues and must be willing to work in a group. The assembled individuals belong to different Personal Learning Networks (PLN) depending on their primary professional abilities (Lui, 2021). The people in the group must be capable of adding value to the intended goal. Placing a group of people in a PLN must consider the abilities of the individuals, including their character in teams of liveliness, consistency, and level of engagement.

I am building a network of people with distinct abilities to fulfill the missing links I have in accomplishing my professional goal. Considering the level of engagement that the people have is my main rule in combining these people Having a healthy relationship with individuals in my PLN is the most critical aspect because benefiting from their knowledge depends on how we interact with each other (Lui, 2021). Having people in a PLN with the same vision must work together to achieve a common goal is vital. I am taking advantage of healthy relationships with the people in the PLN to learn from their abilities as much as possible.

Grouping people in a PLN must consider their abilities of interaction, and good relationships between the members help in helping the aims of the network to be easily achieved. In putting up a group of professionals, I considered everyone’s character and how they were willing to give their knowledge to the group. Each individual is friendly and is ready to explain their ideas most sincerely.   An effective PLN is essential for building knowledge since groups can contribute their opinions, enabling individuals to upscale their content in different subjects.

Social Media And Professional Learning Networks

Having an internet presence is vital in maintaining the relevancy of an organization, especially in social media, because of the broader coverage of the interested audience. Social media helps to create a Professional Learning Network, which is essential in helping individuals to keep a circle of interested parties involved in the same discipline (Miller, 2021). Having diverse social media brings out the benefits of access to a range of professionals in PLN with different abilities that can benefit personal careers (Moore, 2017). The diversity of my PLN involves the networks that cover my abilities, contributing to my professional life. In my business setting, social media plays a huge role in helping to create messages of inclusivity by grouping interested parties and assisting in exchanging goods and services among our community.

The diversity of voices in my PLN is vital in learning sophisticated skillsets in my professional work and helping in understanding the views of others. Interaction with people on my social media platforms has given me the confidence to discuss my progress and career challenges (Moore, 2017). The learning outcome of my PLN has contributed to my different developing strategies to improve my performance in my profession (Miller, 2021). Having benefited from the PLN on social media, I have set out various measures to increase my exposure to diversity and inclusion. I have joined different professional groups on social media that are inclined to my interest as a profession; the groups are on Twitter, Linked in, and Facebook.

Belonging to various PLNs using social media has allowed me to meet like-minded people who have developed my skillset and exposed me to new ideas. My thinking about inclusion has evolved by bringing a perspective that working in groups is much more beneficial than operating alone. Social media is essential for inclusion in a professional setting because it brings together like-minded people in a seeming less manner that makes communication easy to manage. Using social media helps to group people in the categories of their abilities and talents, which helps improve the input of individuals to their professions, including the business community.

Personal Digital Identity vs Professional Digital Identity

Digital platforms are important in helping students enhance and create professional work that organizations and society largely need. A digital platform is where professionals exchange their skills or goods using the internet. Students must use numerous existing digital platforms to increase their network advantages. Scholars use digital platforms because they need to develop their marketing and outsourcing skills to build a professional portfolio that they will depend on in their future endeavors.

Some important digital platforms used frequently by students include social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Students could consider adopting various digital practices to expand their professional learning work. The consideration should include learning how to market their profession in the digital space. Students could ensure they can access all social media platforms to reach a wider market. Data privacy and security can limit professional learning networks because students fear that the platforms might spy on them and are not encouraged to use the podiums.

Using the digital space by students is important for learning more skills about a particular profession and strengthening the already acquired skill to reach a wider marketplace. In my Network, creating a digital identity is easy because an individual only needs to create a profile picture, a description of their skills and upload relevant Curriculum Vitae (CV). The CV is used to prove the individual’s professional network qualification. An employer would respond well when they assess my social media presence through my digital identity because I have put all the requirements needed to display my work. On social media, I have put a link to my qualifications and uploaded some of my work on the digital platform. Digital platforms are important in helping the public and employers to scrutinize their employees, making it easy for recruitment.
